The USDA BioPreferred program, authorized under the Farm Security and Rural Investment Act of 2002, is designed to promote the awareness and use of biobased products as an alternative to products derived from non-renewable materials. The USDA employs a stringent qualification process for certification and requires that products be composed wholly or significantly of biological ingredients (plant, animal and marine materials). The "USDA Certified Biobased Product" label ensures that the USDA and Federal Government stand behind the accuracy and consistency of the biobased content displayed on the label.
"Since inception, we have been committed to developing products that utilize renewable materials that replace methanol, a natural gas derived chemical, in wastewater treatment applications," said Eric Stoermer, President and CEO of EOSi. "We are pleased that our products are the first and only external carbon sources for wastewater treatment applications to date to obtain the USDA BioPreferred certification. We look forward to continuing to help our customers with the achievement of their treatment objectives through the application of our biobased MicroC® line of products."
